Indiana American Water Switching to Monthly Billing for Residential Customer in Northwest Indiana

Gary, Ind. (March 30, 2015) - Beginning in April, Indiana American Water is transitioning customers in its Northwest Indiana District who were formerly billed bimonthly to monthly billing. The change, which was approved earlier this year by the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC), will affect all residential customers in the area. Nearly all other types of customers in northwest Indiana are already receiving monthly bills.

"The switch to monthly billing will make household budgeting easier since customers will be receiving 12 smaller bills throughout the year," said Indiana American Water President Alan DeBoy. "The change will also help customers to better manage their water usage and to detect and fix plumbing leaks sooner since they will be receiving more frequent and timely information about their water usage."
The April bill for all northwest Indiana customers will be prorated and will cover service fees and water usage charges from their last bimonthly bill through the current billing date. For customers that received their last bill in February, the April bill will cover all water charges from February through their April billing date. For those that were last billed in March, the April bill will include charges since March through the April billing date. All customers will be billed each month in northwest Indiana starting April 1, 2015.
Customers can also sign up for paperless billing to reduce the amount of mail, waste and clutter associated with receiving bills through the mail. Participating customers will receive an e-mail notification when their bill is ready to view each month. There is no charge for this service and customers will have easy access to electronic versions of any materials they would have received with their paper bill.
