PENNSYLVANIA AMERICAN WATER ANNOUNCES $630,000 MAIN REPLACEMENT PROJECT FOR BERWICK WATER SYSTEM SCRANTON, PA. (September 25, 2014) - Pennsylvania American Water today announced the start of water main replacement projects in Berwick to improve reliability for customers, reduce service disruptions and increase water flows for firefighting. The cost of the system improvements, which includes installing more than 3,200 feet of pipe, is more than $630,000.

Beginning the week of September 29, the company will replace undersized four -inch water main, dating back to the 1930s, with new eight-inch ductile iron pipe along 3rd Street. Additionally, more than 1,200 feet of new eight-inch pipe will be installed along Vine and East Bowman streets.
The company expects to complete the water main installation, including transfer of all customer services and final paving restoration, by spring 2015.
During construction, customers might experience temporary service interruptions, discolored water and/or lower than normal water pressure.
