PENNSYLVANIA AMERICAN WATER COMPLETES WATER MAIN REPLACEMENT PROJECTS IN OLYPHANT AND THROOP

New main installed replacing pipe dating back to early 1900s

SCRANTON, Pa. (July 24, 2015) - Pennsylvania American Water recently completed upgrades to more than 5,500 feet of water main in Olyphant and Throop to improve reliability for customers, reduce service disruptions and increase water flows for firefighting. The cost of the system improvements, which replaced water main dating to the early 1900s, is more than $1 million.

The project included replacing two- and four-inch cast iron water mains with new eight-inch ductile iron pipe along the following streets:
 Olyphant

o Dolph

o Lynch

o East Scott

o Joan

 Throop

o Edgar

o Hulse

Final restoration, including transfer of customer service lines is expected to be completed by the end of
August.
