PENNSYLVANIA AMERICAN WATER LAUNCHES $1.6 MILLION WATER LINE UPGRADE IN THE MON VALLEY MCMURRAY, Pa. (October 9, 2015) - Pennsylvania American Water announced today the start of construction to replace approximately 1.8 miles of aging water main in the Mon Valley to improve service reliability and improve fire protection for residents. The cost of the system improvements is approximately $1.6 million.

'Pennsylvania American Water is making these investments to prevent emergency repairs and improve fire flows,' said David Ward, Pennsylvania American Water's field operations superintendent. 'These new mains will ensure reliable water service for our Mon Valley customers for decades to come.'

The company plans to replace 6,400 feet of aging lines with new twelve-inch water mains on Grant Avenue in Carroll Township and install 3,400 feet of new eight-inch water mains on Sunset Boulevard, Hollywood Dive, Glendale Drive and Vine Street in Jefferson Hills. Weather permitting; the company expects to complete pipe installation, service connection tie-ins by the end of the fall and final paving restoration in the spring.

During construction, customers might experience temporary service interruptions, discolored water and/or lower than normal water pressure. Crews will work as quickly as possible to shorten the length of these temporary inconveniences.
