Pennsylvania American Water Launches $3.3 Million Water Line Upgrade in Butler County

MCMURRAY, Pa. (July 25, 2014) - Pennsylvania American Water announced today the start of construction to replace more than 3.5 miles of aging water main in the Butler County to improve service reliability and improve fire protection for residents. The combined costs of these system improvements are approximately $3.3 million.

"These projects include replacing small-diameter mains made of cast iron that date back to the early parts of 20th century," said Jake Gentile, Pennsylvania American Water superintendent of Northwest Field Operations. "These capital investments will provide improved reliability and fire protection throughout our Butler service area."

Weather permitting; the company expects to complete pipe installation, service connection tie-ins and final paving restoration by December.

During construction, customers might experience temporary service interruptions, discolored water and/or lower than normal water pressure. Crews will work as quickly as possible to shorten the length of these temporary inconveniences. For more information, contact Pennsylvania American Water's customer service center at 1-800-565-7292.
