PENNSYLVANIA AMERICAN WATER LAUNCHES $775,000 PIPELINE UPGRADE IN LOWER MAKEFIELD YARDLEY, Pa. (September 18, 2014) - Pennsylvania American Water today announced the start of installation of nearly one mile of new water main in Lower Makefield Township to improve service reliability for customers and increase water flows for firefighting. The combined cost of the projects, which will replace aging pipe that dates as far back as the 1940s, is approximately $775,000.
Starting next week, crews will install new eight-inch ductile-iron water main along Lakeview Drive between Gainsway Road and Oxford Drive. In addition, the company recently started water main installation along South Crescent Boulevard between Katheryn Court and Colonial Ridge Drive. Construction will take place weekdays between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Traffic restrictions will be in place during work hours, and motorists are urged to find alternate routes.
The company plans to complete water main installation and transfer of customer services by mid- November, weather permitting. Final paving restoration is expected by December 2014 or spring 2015.
During construction, customers might experience temporary service interruptions, discolored water and/or lower than normal water pressure.
