PENNSYLVANIA AMERICAN WATER LAUNCHES $822,000 WATER LINE UPGRADE IN WASHINGTON COUNTY

MCMURRAY, Pa. (February 26, 2015) - Pennsylvania American Water announced today the start of construction to replace approximately two miles of aging water main in Washington County to improve service reliability and improve fire protection for residents. The cost of the system improvements is approximately $822,000.

"Pennsylvania American Water's investment in proactive replacement before a pipe fails helps prevent emergency repairs, which can inconvenience our customers," said James Jericho, Pennsylvania American Water's project manager. "These new mains will ensure reliable water service and improve fire flows in some of Washington County's oldest neighborhoods."
The company plans to replace aging lines with new eight-inch water mains on the following streets this spring:

South Fayette Township

 Greenwood Drive

Peters Township

 Cheri Drive

North Franklin Township

 Zelt Drive

South Strabane Township

 Vermont Avenue

Midway Borough

 Church Street
Weather permitting, the company expects to complete pipe installation, service connection tie-ins and final paving restoration by the Fall.
During construction, customers might experience temporary service interruptions, discolored water and/or lower than normal water pressure. Crews will work as quickly as possible to shorten the length of these temporary inconveniences. For more information, contact Pennsylvania American Water's customer service center at 1-800-565-7292.
