PENNSYLVANIA AMERICAN WATER LAUNCHES $874,000 MILLION WATER LINE UPGRADE IN THE MON VALLEY

MCMURRAY, Pa. (March 1, 2015) - Pennsylvania American Water announced today the start of construction to replace approximately one mile of aging water main in the Mon Valley to improve service reliability and improve fire protection for residents. The cost of the system improvements is approximately $874,000.

"Pennsylvania American Water is making these investments to prevent emergency repairs and improve fire flows," said David Ward, Pennsylvania American Water's field operations superintendent. "These new mains will ensure reliable water service for our Mon Valley customers."
The company plans to replace aging lines with new eight-inch water mains on the following streets this spring:

New Eagle Borough

 Rush Avenue
 Marion Street

Elizabeth Township

 Oberdick Drive
 Frederick Street
Weather permitting; the company expects to complete pipe installation, service connection tie-ins and final paving restoration by the end of the fall.
During construction, customers might experience temporary service interruptions, discolored water and/or lower than normal water pressure.
