Indiana American Water Announces 2017 Environmental Grant Program Winners GREENWOOD, Ind., (June 26, 2017) - Indiana American Water announced today that it is awarding $11,000 to three organizations across the state as part of its 2017 Environmental Grant Program. Winners include Chances and Services for Youth (CASY) in Terre Haute, City of Gary Department of Environmental Affairs, and the City of Kokomo.

Established in 2005, the company's Environmental Grant Program offers funds for innovative, community-based environmental projects that improve, restore or protect the watersheds, surface water and/or groundwater supplies in the communities it serves.

"Although we received nearly a dozen entries this year as a part of this program, we felt these organizations in particular demonstrated they were taking a leadership position in their communities to ensure our most precious resource is being well taken care of," said Deborah Dewey, president of Indiana American Water.

"Ensuring we have a safe, clean water supply is an important component of the success and high quality of life our communities enjoy across the state," Dewey continued. "Equally important is that communities recognize the value of local waterways. The environmental grants we are awarding to these organizations help us to support those efforts by encouraging wise stewardship of our water resources."

All grant recipients will submit a report at the end of the year to American Water regarding how their grant was used to achieve specific environmental goals.
