New York American Water Offers College Scholarship for

Students Pursuing Water-Related Studies

Deadline to apply is March 31, 2018

MERRICK, N.Y. (February 8, 2018)-New York American Water, in cooperation with the New York Chapter of the National Association of Water Companies (NAWC), is offering five $3,000 scholarships to high school students who will be pursuing a degree related to the water utility field. This is the eighth consecutive year that New York American Water will be offering scholarships as part of their community outreach, helping to achieve their goal of molding the future workforce of New York's water supply.

"Each year, we look forward to providing these scholarships to assist students in our service territory in pursuing their futures in water and environmental fields," said Carmen Tierno, President of New York American Water. "There are not many things more important than water and that's why we are happy to provide deserving students with this financial help as they learn the skills needed to be the future protectors of this precious natural resource."

All high school seniors in New York American Water's service areas who meet the following criteria are eligible to apply for this scholarship opportunity:

•  United States citizen

•  A New York resident for five years and live within a New York American Water service area

•  High school senior pursuing a degree at a college or university as an undergraduate student

•  Maintains at least a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 GPA grading scale

•  Enrolling in a curriculum related to the water utility industry or related fields such as environmental sciences, biology, chemistry, engineering, computer science, environmental law, etc.
