PENNSYLVANIA AMERICAN WATER ANNOUNCES $2 MILLION WATER AND SEWER UPGRADE IN NEW CUMBERLAND, LOWER ALLEN HERSHEY, Pa. (January 16, 2017) - Pennsylvania American Water today announced the replacement of aging water and sewer main in New Cumberland Borough and Lower Allen Township to improve service reliability and enhance water flows for fire protection. The combined cost of the projects is nearly

$2 million.

In Lower Allen, crews are installing new sewer pipe along Carlisle Road, working overnight between 6

p.m. and 6 a.m. to minimize traffic disruptions. This phase is expected to be completed later this week.

In New Cumberland, the company will install new sewer lines along Simpson Ferry Road between Interstate 83 and Brandt Avenue. Construction will take place weekdays between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Traffic restrictions will be in place during construction hours. The project also includes rehabilitating a wastewater pump station. The company expects to complete the sewer construction in March.

In addition, Pennsylvania American Water recently completed replacing approximately 6,900 feet of aging water main dating back to the late 1940s along Carlisle and Simpson Ferry Roads.

Final paving restoration for both projects is planned by PENNDoT in the spring.
