PENNSYLVANIA AMERICAN WATER ANNOUNCES $434,000 IN WATER SYSTEM UPGRADES IN KITTANNING MCMURRAY, Pa. (February 8, 2016) - Pennsylvania American Water announced today the start of construction to replace more than 2,100 feet of aging water main in its Kittanning system to improve service reliability and improve fire protection for residents. The cost of the system improvements is approximately $434,000.

"Pennsylvania American Water is making these investments to prevent emergency repairs and improve fire flows," said Jake Gentile, Pennsylvania American Water's field operations superintendent. "These new mains will ensure reliable water service for customers."

During the second quarter of 2016, the company plans to replace old lines with new water mains on Oak Avenue, Clearfield Pike and Sirwell Street in Kittanning. Some of the old lines were originally installed in the early 1900s. Weather permitting, the company expects to complete pipe installation, service connection tie-ins and final paving restoration by the end of the summer.

During construction, customers might experience temporary service interruptions, discolored water and/or lower than normal water pressure. Crews will work as quickly as possible to shorten the length of these temporary inconveniences. For more information, contact Pennsylvania American Water's customer service center at 1-800-565-7292.
