Bognor Regis, West Sussex, UK-- AMETEK Solartron Metrology, a recognized leader in linear measurement and dimensional gauging, has introduced a MODBUS Interface Module (MODIM). The versatile module provides an easy-to-use gateway between MODBUS PLCs and Solartron Metrology's Orbit®3 Digital Measurement System.
The Orbit3 system is a flexible and highly accurate measuring system that can interface with any sensor with an analogue output as well as Solartron Metrology linear measurement sensors. The system can be used for temperature, pressure, force, rotary measurement and linear displacement, providing all of these process variables to a PLC through one simple MODBUS communications interface.
The MODIM allows users to access complex sensor networks with varying interfaces through a set of MODBUS parameters using a single device. End users can connect to all Solartron gauging, displacement and non-contact sensors as well as third-party sensors, enabling users to build a complete sensor network for any application.
Solartron Metrology is a world leader in design and manufacture of precision digital and analogue dimensional LVDT gauging probes, displacement sensors, optical linear encoders and associated instrumentation. The business is a unit of AMETEK, Inc., a leading global manufacturer of electronic instruments and electromechanical devices with annualized sales of US$4.0 billion.
