Awards cement Amino's position as an industry innovator, uniquely equipping operators to liberate legacy and move to an IP/Cloud future

IBC 2017 19 September 2017 - Amino, the IP/Cloud video software and device specialist, today announced that its pioneering virtual set-top box software, Amino ENABLE, has been presented with two major industry awards at IBC 2017.

The first- which was presented by CSI Magazine at a ceremony at the show on Friday - was awarded to Amino by a panel of industry experts, and honours innovation and outstanding product development.

Now Amino has received recognition from leading trade magazine TVB Europe - presenting the team with a 'Best of Show' award - one of the highest accolades at IBC, Europe's leading broadcast event.
Amino ENABLE was recognised for its unique ability to empower operators to migrate to all IP/Cloud future while still being able to utilise legacy hardware to recoup capital investment.

By 'upcycling' existing set-top boxes and eliminating installation costs, Amino ENABLE saves TV operators billions of dollars in CAPEX and helps them keep pace with sophisticated consumer demands. By unifying the UX across both new and legacy devices, operators are able to offer state-of-the-art services to their entire customer base.

Donald McGarva, Chief Executive Officer, Amino said: 'We are delighted to have won these prestigious awards, and are grateful for the recognition given to our entire team. To be nominated alongside the group of industry pioneers in this category is an honour in itself, and we'd like to congratulate our fellow nominees.'

McGarva continued: 'The range and quality of solutions in both awards are evidence of the innovation taking place across the industry in the area of virtualization. We are seeing that increasingly operators need to implement robust and reliable business models to future-proof their offerings as we move towards an all IP/Cloud world.'

The Enable platform has been tried and tested for over a decade as the software core for Amino VIEW, the world's most deployed IP STB. The software is also widely deployed on third-party set-top box hardware platforms so that all operators can future-proof their offerings and deliver innovative, higher value services. These include over-the-top (OTT), subscription video on demand (SVOD), multiscreen UX, UHD video and Android capabilities, along with updated and unified user interfaces.

The key benefits of Amino ENABLE, as evidenced with deployments with PCCW and Cincinnati Bell, include the ability to:

• Combat churn and grow subscriber numbers - boosting both retention and acquisition, with some operators showing more than 200% subscriber growth after implementing the platform
• Increase return on capital - eliminating the need to replace legacy STBs, which involves both device and installation costs, operators can save millions of dollars, cutting as much as 80% off the cost of upgrading
• Rapid time to market - upgrading STBs with software rather than replacing them means deployment of new services and capabilities take less than a quarter of the time, so a hardware swap-out that would normally take a year is cut to just three months
