Winners of the annual 2014 Hillross Awards Program have been announced this week, including Adviser of the Year, New Adviser of the Year and Advisory Firm of the Year.

The 2014 Hillross Awards Program is open to CFP advisers across the Hillross network. Managing Director Hillross and AMP Financial Planning Michael Guggenheimer said the awards were an opportunity to acknowledge the high levels of professionalism, client service and the delivery of quality advice.

"Hillross financial advisers pride themselves on delivering quality advice that makes a real difference in helping Australians achieve their ideas of financial freedom. The Hillross Awards program is a celebration of achievement and provides recognition for some the best advisers in the business," Mr Guggenheimer said.

A panel of judges from across the industry, including Mark Rantall, Chief Executive Officer of the FPA, assessed and judged the winners. Clients of the finalists were also surveyed by an independent research specialist to assess client advocacy as part of the judging process.

Hillross Adviser of the Year
The 2014 Hillross Adviser of the Year has been awarded to Sydney adviser David Kennedy.

David started his retirement planning firm, Pacific Advisory, in 2008 just before the arrival of the global financial crisis. Navigating his clients and his own business through the heart of the GFC helped David shape a successful model for advice.

"His achievements as an adviser have been helped by three guiding principles he lives by every day - to set meaningful goals, focus only on the things you can control and seek expert advice to reach your true potential. His approach and professionalism make David a very deserving winner," Mr Guggenheimer said.

The Adviser of the Year recognises a CFP adviser who has demonstrated the highest level of professionalism and excellence through client service, advice delivery and implementation.

Hillross New Adviser of the Year
Sue Morris of Hillross Northern Wealth in Sydney has been awarded the New Adviser of the Year.

Sue, a graduate of AMP's Horizons Academy, commenced working with Hillross in January 2014 and quickly established a reputation for her outstanding commitment to clients and the local community.

"Sue is a shining example of an adviser who brings passion and enthusiasm to her role. Clients are immediately drawn to Sue's energy and genuine desire to help people plan for their future, which is core to our purpose as financial advisers.

"In less than one year, Sue has also developed a niche market to help divorced women provide for their family and financially prepare for their future. Her dedication to help people in the local community achieve financial freedom was a stand-out for the judging panel," Mr Guggenheimer said.

Hillross Advisory Firm of the Year
Southbank Financial Services has won Advisory Firm of the Year, for demonstrating the highest standards of professionalism, operational excellence and client service.

Led by Practice Principal Paul Nicola, they have also contributed widely to the community with series of pro-bono and sponsorship programs with local charities, including the St Mary's College for Hearing Impaired Students.

"Southbank Financial Services has a deep commitment to its clients and the community in which it operates. The positive feedback from clients has proved they are a well-respected and trusted team, delivering an exceptional service," Mr Guggenheimer said.
