AngioDynamics : Issues Statement Regarding Stryker recall of Angiographic Catheters

ALBANY, N.Y., July 26, 2016 -- AngioDynamics (NASDAQ:ANGO), a leading provider of innovative, minimally invasive medical devices for vascular access, surgery, peripheral vascular disease and oncology, issued the following statement regarding the voluntary recall of angiographic catheters reprocessed by Stryker Sustainable Solutions:
AngioDynamics is aware that Stryker Sustainability Solutions has initiated a recall on certain reprocessed AngioDynamics Soft-Vu Angiographic Catheters. This division of Stryker is a medical device reprocessor that obtains used or expired medical devices for reprocessing. Reprocessing may include, but is not limited to, cleaning, repairing, re-packing and re-sterilizing medical devices. Stryker Sustainability Solutions then sells these reprocessed medical devices to healthcare facilities. Reprocessing entails a separate approval process by the FDA. As such, the angiographic catheters subject to the recall are specifically Stryker Sustainability Solutions products. No Soft-Vu angiographic catheters sold directly by AngioDynamics are being recalled.
The Soft-Vu catheter line is intended and indicated for single use. AngioDynamics believes this to be the safest use of its products. Stryker Sustainability Solutions has no connection to AngioDynamics and has neither sought nor been given any approval by AngioDynamics to reprocess AngioDynamics products.
