The Huffington Post Media Group today announced the launch of Al Huffington Post Maghreb in Morocco (http://www.huffpostmaghreb.com/maroc/), building upon the brand’s growing international presence, which now covers more than half of the world’s GDP.

The French-language site, covering Morocco, is established through collaboration with Media Post Maroc SA, backed by private investor Abdelmalek Alaoui.

“I’m very excited that the journey we started over a year ago in Tunisia and continued this May in Algeria has now added the final missing part -- Huffington Post Morocco -- to create the full ensemble of The Huffington Post Maghreb,” said Arianna Huffington, President and Editor-in-Chief of The Huffington Post Media Group. “The Maghreb is a region that is undergoing amazing transformations – socially, politically, and economically. And in Morocco today we are witnessing a golden age of online collaboration and engagement that is both local and global – in particular among Moroccan youth. There’s no better time to start the conversation.”

"The economic and political reforms undertaken over the past few years make this an exciting time for us to be launching in Morocco," said Jimmy Maymann, Chief Executive Officer of the Huffington Post. "With GDP growing at 5% and tertiary enrollment increasing by more than 10% per annum in recent years, Morocco provides yet another example of the rapidly developing audience base to which Al Huffington Post Maghreb will be perfectly positioned to engage, right across the region."

Al Huffington Post Maghreb was launched two years ago in partnership with private investors Alix Etournaud and Fares Mabrouk. It now covers Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria, bringing HuffPost’s signature mix of news, blogging, community, video and social engagement to French speakers in North Africa.

The new site is the latest addition to The Huffington Post’s growing global newsroom, which will cover 14 markets by the end of January 2015.
