Engadget, tech news outlet and the definitive guide to this connected life, announces that it will coordinate, judge and produce the official Best of CES awards program at the International CES in January 2015.

The Engadget Best of CES Awards are open to new products that are exhibited at the 2015 International CES, and beginning November 1, 2014 Engadget will solicit submissions from its site. Once the event starts, editors will actively look for other eligible submissions from around the show floor and conference events.

Engadget's editors, with their extensive knowledge of the tech industry, will vote for nominees based on level of innovation, quality of design, overall excellence and market demand. The Engadget team brings the same objectivity and independence to the Best of CES awards that it does in all of its reporting and product reviews.

In 2015, award categories will include:

  • Best Startup
  • Best Digital Health and Fitness Product
  • Best Wearable
  • Best Automotive Technology
  • Best Home Theater Product
  • Best (Connected) Home Product
  • Best Software/App
  • Best Innovation (Disruptive Tech)
  • Best Mobile Device
  • Best TV product
  • Best Gaming Product
  • Best Offbeat Product
  • Best Maker-friendly Technology
  • Best PC
  • Best Robot or Drone
  • Best of the Best – the device, service or technology in any category that stands clearly above the rest, judged based on its innovation and design quality
  • People’s Choice Award – the product from this year’s CES that most captured the hearts and minds of our readers. The winner will be determined by viewers and readers.

“Last year, we saw some of the most cutting-edge advancements in smart homes, wearables and fitness technology,” said Michael Gorman, editor in chief, Engadget. “Sifting through everything happening at CES each year isn’t easy. But we’re up to the challenge, ready for the long nights, and we can’t wait to see what’s waiting for us in 2015.”

Winners from the inaugural Engadget Best of CES in 2014 included Oculus Rift’s Crystal Cove Prototype, Intel’s smart baby onesie and Jaybird’s fitness monitor Reign. The full list of 2014 winners is compiled here.

This partnership connects two established organizations – CEA, a renowned authority in the consumer electronics industry, and Engadget, which covers tech news in-depth and with integrity – and furthers their common goal of showcasing outstanding products to a global audience. The Best of CES Awards Program started approximately 10 years ago to celebrate the innovation and noteworthy products on display at the International CES each year.
