Celebrates Its 27th Birthday with Global
Community Service Day
Nearly 3,000 Employees Will Support More Than 38 Charities Across The
Globe
Today, AOL embarks on its third annual Monster Help Day - an initiative
created by employees encouraging all colleagues around the globe to step
away from the ringing phones, overflowing inboxes and packed conference
rooms to help strengthen the communities in which they live and work.
This year nearly 3,000 AOL employees from 21 offices will support more
than 38 charities around the world. AOL employees will engage in a
variety of service activities including building care kits for troops,
serving lunch at a food bank, planting trees in their local park, and
many more, totaling more than 24,000 man hours of community service.
"AOL employees don't just work in the communities where our offices are
located; they give back and want to be involved," said Tim Armstrong,
Chairman and CEO, AOL. "While many AOL employees volunteer throughout
the year, having a designated community service day allows all employees
to come together to give back and have a rewarding experience with their
colleagues. On our third annual Monster Help Day we continue to support
the charitable organizations in our local communities while reinforcing
our core value of helping people."
Established in 2010 to celebrate AOL's 25th birthday, Monster Help Day
was inspired by a group of AOL employees looking for a way to celebrate
the company's history. The annual event underscores AOL's core mission
of serving people in their communities. Monster Help Day has become an
international day of service for all of AOL. By incorporating two of
AOL's values to act with integrity and take fun seriously, employees
work as a team to make a difference for those in need. From Bangalore to
Palo Alto, AOL employees take the day off from work and focus on making
a direct and impactful difference in the communities where they live.
Over the last two years AOL employees have spent over 50,000 hours doing
community service on Monster Help Day and have helped nearly 100
charities.
