The operations to be carried out relate to approximately 50 tonnes of radioactive waste (low and medium-level, short-lived waste). This consists of magnesium cladding material resulting from treatment operations on the natural uranium-graphite-gas fuels used in the former G1, G2 and G3 reactors at the Marcoule site.

The scope of activities under the contract, set to last approximately 5 years, represent a full-spectrum project management offering, extending from the safety report to the detailed studies, and through to the realization and industrial startup of the waste recovery and packaging operations.

For the Chairman of AREVA Projets, Eric Chassard: 'AREVA Projets is demonstrating its ability to act as a full-scope prime contractor for waste recovery and packaging operations for external customers. This contract also demonstrates our ability to devise an innovative partnership strategy to serve the customer, in this case by teaming up with Wood'.
