“Everyone at Arrow is proud of the incredible things that James and the Schmidt Peterson Motorsports team have accomplished so far this season,” said Michael J. Long, Arrow’s chairman, president and chief executive officer. “Last year, James watched the Indy 500 from a hospital bed, and this year he clocked the fastest time in qualifications. That’s a testament to his passion for the sport, hard work and dedication. Arrow is proud to sponsor such a great athlete and inspiring individual, and we look forward to cheering him on this Sunday in the big race.”

SPM team co-owner Sam Schmidt initially collaborated with Arrow on machine-to-machine technologies back in 2014. Schmidt, whose crash in 2000 during an Indy car practice lap left him a quadriplegic, rediscovered the joy of driving again through a modified Corvette that Arrow engineers built for him called the Semi-Autonomous Motorcar, or SAM car. Schmidt hit 152 mph in the SAM car on Sunday in between Indy 500 qualifying laps.

Arrow is proud to work with and sponsor the SPM team and No. 5 car. Their drive and passion for the sport, and the technology enabling it, directly align to Arrow’s forward-looking mission to operate in the world of Five Years Out—the tangible future of new technologies, new materials, new ideas and new electronics that will make people’s lives better, smarter and more inspired.
