Artio Global Management LLC ("Artio Global") yesterday launched the Artio Local Emerging Markets Debt Fund (AEFAX, AEFIX), a no-load fund focused on opportunities presented by fixed income instruments denominated in currencies of emerging market countries, as well as other investments. The fund will be co-managed by Elena Liapkova, CFA and Donald Quigley, CFA.

Elena Liapkova joined Artio Global in 2005 as a member of the High Grade Fixed Income team. Prior to joining, she served as an emerging markets sovereign risk manager for Bear Stearns and was also an economist covering Latin America for IDEAglobal. Donald Quigley, who heads the High Grade Fixed Income strategy, joined Artio Global in 2001. Prior to that, he served as a US fixed income portfolio manager for Chase Asset Management and as a US fixed income trader for MetLife.

"Disparity in growth between developed and emerging market economies is a reality that investors will need to factor into their asset allocation and security selection decisions for many years to come," said Richard Pell, Chief Investment Officer and Chief Executive Officer of Artio Global. "The continued development and improving fundamentals of local emerging market debt supports increased interest by investors. Given the firm's experience in analyzing and assessing opportunities across emerging markets, this is a natural extension to our fund family."

Tony Williams, Chief Operating Officer, commented: "We remain committed to strategically expanding our investment lineup in asset classes where we believe we can add value for clients over the long-term. The launch of the fund further diversifies our product range and demonstrates the breadth of talent within our organization."

Mutual fund investing involves risk. Principal loss is possible. The Fund is non-diversified, meaning it may concentrate its assets in fewer individual holdings than a diversified fund. Therefore, the Fund is more exposed to individual stock volatility than a diversified fund. The Fund may invest in foreign securities which involve greater volatility and political, economic and currency risks and differences in accounting methods. These risks may be greater in emerging markets. Investments in debt securities typically decrease in value when interest rates rise. This risk is usually greater for longer-term debt securities. Investments in lower-rated, non-rated and distressed securities present a greater risk of loss to principal and interest than higher-rated securities. The Fund may invest in derivatives which involve risks different from, and in certain cases, greater than the risks presented by more traditional investments.

While the funds are no-load, management and other expenses still apply. Please refer to the prospectus for further details.

The Fund's investment objectives, risks, charges and expenses must be considered carefully before investing.
