Certification Programs Will Deliver Standards-Based Solutions for
Enterprises to Deploy Reliable and High Quality Voice over Wireless LANs
Aruba Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:ARUN) today announced that its Wireless LAN
(WLAN) has been selected as part of the Wi-Fi CERTIFIED™
Voice-Enterprise and Wi-Fi CERTIFIED WMM®-Admission Control
certification programs from the Wi-Fi Alliance®, which aim to drive
standards-based certification of wireless infrastructure with client
devices for enterprise voice over Wireless LAN deployments.
As enterprises look to accommodate the onslaught of mobile devices using
voice applications and reduce the cost of voice infrastructure by moving
to technologies such as Unified Communications, standards-based
certification becomes critical to ensuring voice quality, reliability
and performance. Wi-Fi CERTIFIED Voice-Enterprise is designed to support
good voice call quality in large enterprise networks that require
support for advanced WPA2™-Enterprise security mechanisms. The program
builds on the existing Wi-Fi CERTIFIED Voice-Personal program to support
fast transitions between access points and provide management for voice
applications. Wi-Fi CERTIFIED WMM-Admission Control provides bandwidth
management tools to optimize the delivery of voice and video traffic in
Wi-Fi® networks.
The Aruba 3200 Mobility controller and AP-105 are among the first
products chosen to be part of the Wi-Fi Alliance test bed for these
certifications; this means that other ecosystem vendors will purchase
the Aruba products to test their implementations against Aruba's
reference standard.
"These two new Wi-Fi Alliance certification programs will make it much
easier for enterprises to ensure voice quality on mobile devices
replacing the variety of disparate, proprietary solutions with
certified, standards-based solutions," said Dorothy Stanley, Head of
Standards Strategy for Aruba Networks. "The benefits of the
certifications are extensive and importantly, include improved
performance and quality for all client devices, not just voice-capable
devices. Aruba is pleased to be part of the test bed for these important
certification efforts."
"We congratulate Aruba Networks on achieving selection to the Wi-Fi
CERTIFIED Voice-Enterprise and Wi-Fi CERTIFIED WMM-Admission Control
test bed," said Wi-Fi Alliance CEO Edgar Figueroa. "Aruba's
participation in the development of these programs has been instrumental
in the achievement of an industry-wide certification."
