Assicurazioni Generali SpA's (>> Assicurazioni Generali SpA) chief executive has been ousted at a board meeting Saturday, one person close to the board said.
Giovanni Perissinotto was ousted with 10 votes favoring the ouster, five against it and one abstention.
The emergency board meeting had been called by a number of private investors led by Mediobanca, the insurer's largest shareholder.
Zurich Insurance Group AG's (ZURVY, ZURN.VX) General Insurance CEO, Mario Greco, will replace Perissinotto, the person said.
Separately, Tod's SpA (>> TOD'S SpA) CEO Diego Della Valle said coming out of the meeting: "I disagree with this decision. It could have been done better. On Monday I will resign from the board of directors of Generali."
