Asure Software (Nasdaq:ASUR), a leading provider of workplace management software solutions, today announced that it helped Scottish Water, one of the UK’s largest water services providers, to implement an agile working program that enabled the client to save £5 million in construction and operating costs in its new office with a 25 percent reduction in the number of workspaces by using Asure’s Workspace Manager solution to support a hot desking and resource sharing system.

“Agile working at Scottish Water is about empowering their people to work where, how and when they choose; to maximize their productivity and deliver the greatest value to customers,” said Nigel Clarke, Global Senior Vice President of EMEA & APAC. “An increasing number of organizations are seeing agile work initiatives not just as an opportunity, but an imperative to be more competitive and efficient. As the workplace and the workforce become increasingly mobile and global, Asure is committed to being at the forefront of providing solutions that help organizations worldwide to effectively manage space, people and assets.”

Scottish Water employs almost 3,400 people in six office locations throughout Scotland. Its agile worker program goals were to reduce the time employees spent in vehicles between locations and improve work-life balance. Previously, the organization used email to book meeting rooms but had no system in place to track utilization. It also lacked a reservation system for hot desks, which frustrated employees and caused them to spend valuable time looking for available desks where they could work.

Now, approximately 1,500 employees regularly use Workspace Manager to book workspaces and meeting rooms via an online scheduling solution and on-site kiosks and touch panels, confident they will have a desk where they can work when they arrive on-site. In addition, room and desk utilization reports are available to support more informed facilities management and real estate decisions. A pilot program is underway to enable employees to book pool cars, and the next phase will likely include video conference resources. The organization also plans to roll out Workspace Manager hardware and software to four additional offices and it is evaluating Asure’s Visitor Management and Catering services.

“We’re passionate about the health and well-being of our people, and agile working benefits our staff in terms of their health, well-being and resilience,” said by Shirley Campbell, Scottish Water’s Director of People, Workplace and Organization Development. “We want employees to use web and teleconferencing and work from their own locations instead of spending so much time in their cars. Asure helped us shape the end solution, understanding our core requirement, then advising us on how to customize the application to achieve our goals. The end result is a system which is extremely intuitive and easy to use.”
