Four themes for research

To date, the BRGM and Atos have identified four major theme based project areas which will form the basis of their research leading to the implementation of digital services:

  • Intelligent sensors/data-gathering
    • Connected objects in a natural or restricted environment / drones;
    • Cloud Industrial Supervision/ Decentralized intelligence around the sensors;
  • Information correlation and massive processing (Stream or controlled time)
    • Leading ontologies in the field of geosciences, geography, water and Construction and Civil Engineering Works
    • data interoperability;
    • associated massive processing (Big Data architecture and computing power);
  • Optimisation & analysis
    • Training;
    • Prediction;
    • Data visualization (3D/SIG) - Digital model (Construction and Civil Engineering Works), in particular as part of the MINnD project;
  • Cross-functional capability: agility, upgradability, security, data protection, flexibility.

In today's world, digital technologies are the driving force needed for meeting the environmental challenges which now concern the entire planet: climate warming, energy efficiency, reduction of carbon emissions, positive energy buildings … Through its digital systems and solutions, Atos is very much engaged in this dynamic of change towards a longer-lasting economic model which is more in tune with sustainability issues. For its part the BRGM, will continue to use the latest innovative technology at its disposal to optimize its data, develop new expertise and offer new services.
