Taiwan flat panel maker AU Optronics Corp. (2409.TW) said Friday it plans to sell up to 800 million new shares to expand its operations, including investing in new display technology.

The company said it may sell the new shares via private placement. It is also considering convertible bonds and global depositary receipts among its fund-raising options.

It didn't disclose the date or more details of the share sale.
