The Audi TTS Coupé and TTS Roadster are powered by a 2.0 TFSI engine with 228 kW (310 hp) and 380 Nm (280.3 lb-ft) of torque. The Coupé accelerates from zero to 100 km/h (62.1 mph) in 4.9 seconds en route to a top speed of 250 km/h (155.3 mph). This time decreases to 4.6 seconds with the optional S tronic. The Roadster completes the sprint in 5.2 seconds (4.9 with the S tronic).

Both TTS models transfer their power to the road via the dynamic quattro permanent all-wheel drive. The wheels measure 18 inches in diameter, and the Audi drive select dynamic handling system is standard. Progressive steering varies the steering gear ratio according to the steering wheel input, and wheel-selective torque control complements the work of the quattro drive system at the cornering limit. The body sits ten millimeters (0.4 in) lower, and the adaptive electronic damping system Audi magnetic ride is standard equipment. Particularly lightweight, aluminum, fixed-caliper brakes with large disks are used on the front wheels.

In the NEDC cycle, the sonorous four-cylinder engine in the Coupé consumes just 7.1 liters per 100 kilometers (33.1 US mpg), corresponding to CO emissions of 164 grams per kilometer (263.9 g/mi). With the S tronic, the figures are 6.7 liters per 100 kilometers (35.1 US mpg) and 155 grams of CO per kilometer (249.4 g/mi). The figures for the Roadster (manual/S tronic) are 7.3/6.9 liters per 100 kilometers (32.2/34.1 US mpg) and 169/159 grams CO per kilometer (272.0/255.9 g/mi). Audi uses numerous innovative technologies to make the two models so efficient, supplementing FSI injection with indirect injection, for example. The TTS Coupé and TTS Roadster also feature the Audi valvelift system for the exhaust valves and the thermal management system including the exhaust manifold in the cylinder head.

The vehicle's low weight also contributes towards reducing fuel consumption. The Coupé weighs in at a curb weight of just 1,365 kg (3,009.3 lb) - a figure that is largely attributable to the use of ultra high-strength steel and aluminum in the body. The Roadster has a curb weight of just 1,450 kilograms (3,196.7 lb).

Both Audi TTS models come standard with the fully digital Audi virtual cockpit. The 12.3-inch TFT screen displays tack-sharp images thanks to its a resolution of 1,440 x 540 pixels. Besides the classic view and 'Infotainment' mode, the S models also have a third, sporty mode. In this mode, the tachometer is placed in the center and dominates the display field.
