ANZ appoints Dennis Hussey CEO Vietnam

ANZ today announced Dennis Hussey has been appointed CEO Vietnam, responsible for growing the bank's local service offering and capabilities for clients active in the country's major trade corridors.
The appointment is subject to regulatory approval and Head of Global Markets Vietnam, Phan Thi Thanh Binh, will continue as Acting Chief Executive Officer Vietnam until Mr Hussey joins, expected in March next year. Former CEO Vietnam Tareq Muhmood moved to Singapore in November to become ANZ's Global Head of Diversified Industries.
Mr Hussey will join ANZ from Citibank, where he was most recently Country Officer for
Vietnam. He has worked in a range of wholesale and consumer banking roles over the past
19 years and was previously Head of Corporate Banking of Vietnam between 2000 and
2002. He also led Citi's consumer banking businesses in Spain and Japan, and has led
wholesale businesses for Citi in Sri Lanka as well as a Thai securities company.
Commenting on the appointment, CEO International Banking Farhan Faruqui said: "Vietnam is becoming a key Asian manufacturing hub and our customers are seeing strong potential for growth in both export and domestic markets."
"Dennis has the right mix of retail and corporate banking experience to lead this business and connect our customers with opportunities at a time when Vietnam's economy and financial sector are fast-developing," Mr Faruqui said.
ANZ was among the first 100% foreign owned banks to be granted a banking licence by the State Bank of Vietnam in 2008. It offers a full range of services across institutional and corporate banking, financial markets, trade finance, commercial banking and retail and wealth banking.
