ROSELAND, N.J., Nov. 25, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- ADP(®) today announced it is once again an official supporter of Small Business Saturday, which takes place on Nov. 29, 2014 this year. Small Business Saturday is a day set aside to remind Americans of the value small businesses bring to our economy and to encourage us to 'Shop Small(®)', especially during the holiday season.

"When small businesses thrive, neighborhoods are strengthened, communities flourish, and the economy grows," said John Ayala, president of ADP's Small Business Services division. "By serving more than 425,000 small business clients, ADP knows firsthand that although running a small business is rewarding, it isn't easy. Supporting and promoting Small Business Saturday is a natural way to thank our local entrepreneurs who have made countless sacrifices to fulfill their dreams of creating a business and to help them succeed."

Last year, supporters reported spending an estimated $5.7 billion at small, independent businesses on Small Business Saturday. Now in its fifth year, Small Business Saturday helps jump start the holiday shopping season for small businesses across the United States.

According to the U.S. Small Business Administration, small businesses nationwide accounted for 60 percent of net new private-sector jobs created from mid-2009 to mid-2013. More recently, as published by the ADP Research Institute(®), small business owners alone have added more than 860,000 jobs to the U.S. economy since January of this year. In addition to the obvious economic impact, they also help instill unique character and culture to our communities.

"We have a lot to celebrate when it comes to our local, independently-owned small businesses. ADP is once again delighted to help promote this great tradition of supporting Shop Small Saturday," Ayala added.
