ROSELAND, NJ--(Marketwired - Apr 28, 2016) - The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) is moving closer to finalizing the biggest change to overtime rules since they were established in 1938. That means potentially big challenges for companies as the proposed changes to the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) would more than double the salary threshold for overtime eligibility to $50,440 per year, making nearly five million workers eligible for overtime pay as early as the next few months.

To help, ADP® is partnering with CPAacademy.org to host a webinar on Tuesday, May 3, and Tuesday, May 10, to discuss the pending overtime changes and how they will impact businesses of all sizes.

Key topics will include:

  • An overview of the FLSA and DOL proposed changes on overtime and minimum wage salary
  • Review of exempt versus non-exempt status for employees
  • Review of independent contractor versus employee tests
  • Guidelines for properly classifying workers
  • How to handle pay related to off-the-clock work, travel, training and working interviews

This free webinar -- "Do I Have to Pay My Employees for That?" -- will begin at 1 p.m. ET on both days. It will feature ADP experts Tara Wolckenhauer, Division Vice President of Human Resources, and Aldor Delp, Division Vice President and General Manager for ADP's Resource and HR Solutions group. Attendees will be eligible for one hour toward Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits.

Register for the webinar here and visit ADP's FLSA resource center to learn more about the proposed changes to the overtime rules.
