AMSTERDAM and SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 27, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- AVG Technologies N.V. (NYSE: AVG), the online security company™ for 182 million active users, today announced the immediate availability of an enhanced service module capability that allows IT providers and Managed Services Providers (MSPs) to use AVG Managed Workplace to remotely monitor and manage their customers' Microsoft Office 365 cloud-based collaboration, communications and productivity software platform.

The Office 365 service module further expands partners' ability to seamlessly manage cloud environments within AVG Managed Workplace. It solves the problem of multiple logins between applications by allowing administrators to view all the essential information they need within the same screen, helping them to run their operations more efficiently and further cut down administration costs.

"There is growing momentum in the channel behind Office 365 which Microsoft has described as the fastest growing business in its history," said Mike Foreman, General Manager, SMB, AVG Technologies. "Today's announcement is a clear example of how the channel's role is as important as ever. By wrapping their services value around a cloud service, such as Office 365, the channel can make their role as important as ever. Their ability to demonstrate continuous proactive support puts them firmly in the driving seat when it comes to establishing long-term customer relationships."

The new expanded AVG Office 365 Managed Workplace service module gives MSPs the ability to remotely perform the top five most popular management tasks for Office 365 from within the same screen view. Additional Office 365 administration capabilities may also be accessed from within AVG Managed Workplace - saving support engineers from having to log in and out of different applications.

Features and benefits for MSPs of the new integrated Office 365 service module within AVG Managed Workplace include:

  • View up-to-date information about Office 365 usage across all customer sites, per site, or even just for a single user
  • Wide range of information from license expiry and mailbox quotas/traffic/activity/policies and group memberships to service down notifications, user password resets and managing users without using Windows PowerShell®
  • Rich HTML view reduces complexity of PowerShell interface

"With this announcement we are also responding to partners who tell us they want a more convenient way to administer their customers' increasingly complex mix of physical and online infrastructure," continued Mike Foreman. "Simplification of Office 365 management represents a first step in developing easy ways to manage cloud data within AVG Managed Workplace - something that appears destined to become commonplace as more everyday objects and devices are IP-connected to form the Internet of Things."

AVG's small business security portfolio is supported by a worldwide network of more than 10,000 partners. Its pedigree in this area makes it ideally positioned to help smaller IT companies and MSPs harness low cost, cloud-based tools so they can transition into fully-fledged managed services businesses. In October 2012 AVG introduced AVG CloudCare™, a cloud-based administration platform offering resellers a new way to implement and manage services such as antivirus, content filtering, online backup and email security services for their small business customers. In June 2013 it added AVG Managed Workplace, an open eco-system Remote Management & Monitoring (RMM) tool. AVG's vision is to make the lives of MSPs and their small business customers as easy as possible, regardless of whether staff are in the office, at home, or on the road.
