More than 20,000 Attend "Visiting UTair" Air Show in Tyumen

UTair Aviation celebrated the Russian national Air Fleet Day 2014 by holding its traditional biennial "Visiting UTair" air show at the Plekhanov International Airport in Tyumen on August 16.

The air show was opened by Vasily Lebedinskii, Honored Pilot of Russia and First Deputy General Director and Director of Production at UTair. He delivered greetings to guests on the occasion of the holiday and the air show, stressing the importance of the contribution civil aviation has made to the country's economic development.

Air show guests, including many young visitors, were able to see examples of aviation engineering and technology at a designated pavilion as well as witness aerial demonstrations of   UTair fixed wing and helicopter performance, rocket design and paratrooper exercises.

The interior cabins of the Mi-26, Mi-8, Mi-10K, MI-6, Ka-32, AS350, Orion SK-12 amphibian and the legendary national Antonov An-2 aircraft were open to all visitors who were allowed to sit at the controls of these aircraft and experience the environment of real pilots.

Spectators were able to view flight operations of a Mi-8 helicopter, a mock landing operation and an emergency rescue operation, the firefighting capabilities of the AS350 helicopter with water drop technology, and the inspiring flight maneuvering capacity of professional UTair crews operating BO-105 and Robinson R-44 helicopters.

The air show concluded with a massive parachute landing accompanied by a fireworks show and Yakovlev Yak-52 and Yak-18 aircraft performing acrobatics.

UTair has held its biennial "Visiting UTair" air show since 2004. The air show has become increasingly popular among Tyumen region residents and visitors.

In addition to the events at the air show, UTair Aviation invites all visitors of the air show to take part in a follow up photo contest based on themes of the air show. To take part in the contest, attendees need only to subscribe to one of the official UTair social network pages on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/UTairAvia ), VKontakte (https://vk.com/utairavia ) or Instagram (http://instagram.com/utair ) and upload a photo taken at the air show on their own personal page using hashtags #utairshow #UTair to tag the photo. Submissions will be accepted until August 31. The presence of the UTair logo in the photo will increase your chances of winning. A panel of judges will select the winning image from among the entries on September 5, 2014 and the winner will receive a special prize.
