UTair Aviation Transports Participants of VII International Abalak Field Festival

UTair Aviation has become the official carrier for the International Abalak Field Festival 2015, a popular historic battle reenactment and medieval craft fair that took place from July 10 through 12 in the village of Abalak near Tobolsk. UTair aircraft delivered reenactment participants from Saint-Petersburg and Moscow to Tyumen and back. UTair - Passenger Airlines President Oleg Semenov noted that UTair has served as a strategic partner for the festival in previous years. Supporting ethnic, cultural, musical and theatrical events is an integral part of UTair's social responsibility policy.

Festival curator Alexey Kolmakov highly appreciated UTair's participation over the years. "Since the project started, UTair has been among key supporters of the Abalak Field. UTair has helped the festival to reach the status of an international event," said Mr Kolmakov.

The Abalak Field Festival has been held near Tobolsk since 2008 and is one of the largest historic reenactment events in Russia. In 2015 nearly 18,000 people participated in the event. The festival has the objective to allow visitors to immerse themselves into the historical era of the rise of Rus' and to preserve the historical and cultural heritage of the Tyumen region. The event included numerous tournaments and competitions, a craft fair where artisans displayed and sold wooden, iron and clay wares, and a medieval costume show-contest.

As in previous years, the festival was organized by Vargentorn, a Belorussian historical reenactment club. This year the Saint-Petersburg folk rock band Troll Bends Fir made a special appearance at the Abalak Field Festival as a special guest.
