Spokane, Wash., Sept. 29, 2017: Avista has wrapped up the rock relocation project at its Monroe Street Dam, located in Huntington Park in downtown Spokane. The rock, which accumulated during spring runoff, was relocated downstream of the dam where it will function as trout spawning habitat in the Lower Spokane River. To ensure public safety while the crane is disassembled and removed, Huntington Park will be closed on Monday, Oct. 2. The park is expected to reopen to the public by the end of day on Oct. 2. Removing the rock buildup is necessary to prevent damage to the dam's intake structure and from interfering with the generation of electricity for customers.
