  • Provides personalised health advice and services direct to customers across China
  • Extends successful pan-Asia multi-channel network into China

Aviva-COFCO Life Insurance ("Aviva-COFCO"), Aviva's joint venture in China, today announces the successful launch of the Aviva-COFCO Health and Wellness Platform. The digital platform offers health and wealth management advice and services for existing and new customers.

As a leading insurer in China, Aviva-COFCO's vision is to provide tailored health protection products and services to its customers. This new platform meets customer healthcare and nutrition needs on a number of levels, while catering for their lifestyle and financial needs. Through proprietary Nielsen-conducted market research* , Aviva-COFCO identified these areas as being of highest concern and interest to consumers in China, especially among the younger generation.

The Aviva-COFCO Health and Wellness Platform was officially launched today, with more than 20 partnership agreements in place. A pilot of the platform was initially launched in January 2015, and today the platform has more than one hundred thousands users. A standout feature of the platform is the Chunyu Online Doctor, the first 24 hour online medical consultation service available across China, which has attracted high levels of uptake and registered outstanding user satisfaction. Other platform services include:

  • Healthcare: easy access to quality healthcare; preventive care
  • Nutritional: information and advice on food safety and nutrition
  • Lifestyle: access to lifestyle social communities, discounts and loyalty schemes to leisure and fitness facilities
  • Financial: insurance and wealth management

*Nielsen-commissioned online survey among sample of 1,505 conducted in September 2014.

Aviva-COFCO customers can access these services online (aviva-cofco.com.cn) or through WeChat, one of the largest messaging applications in China.

Khor Hock Seng, Aviva Asia Chief Executive Officer, said:

"This launch represents not only a new milestone in the rollout of Aviva's 'digital first' strategy but also a major step forward for the insurance industry in China. This one-stop-shop for Chinese consumers' health and wellness was created in response to rapidly growing demand for medical and wellness advice and protection across an increasingly health conscious Chinese population."

"Developing successful multi-channel distribution focused on the needs of our customers is critical to Aviva Asia's growth strategy. This platform will enable us to understand the needs of each and every one of our customers and to respond in a personalised manner with services ranging from health to wealth management. We expect it to generate significant brand recognition for Aviva-COFCO."

Richard Yu, President of Aviva-COFCO, commented:

"Collaboration opportunities between life insurers and healthcare providers are limitless in China. By encouraging insurance companies to provide health risk assessment, industry regulators at the State Council and the China Insurance Regulatory Commission are paving the way for greater partnerships between the two industries while providing tax benefits to insurance policy holders.

"These fast-paced industry developments, combined with the launch of our customer-focused online platform in a 600 million internet users market, are opening a wealth of opportunities to further grow our market share in China."
