Avivagen : and UNAHCO, Inc. Announce Registration Of OxC-beta™ Livestock in the Republic of the Philippines

Ottawa, Canada & Manila, Philippines / TNW-Accesswire / Jul 27 2016 / - Avivagen Inc. and UNAHCO, Inc. announce the registration by UNAHCO of OxC-beta™ Livestock (OxC-beta) as an imported livestock feed additive, authorizing its use in all species in the Philippines.

UNAHCO is the wholly-owned feed and veterinary subsidiary of Unilab Inc., the largest pharmaceutical company in the Philippines. UNAHCO provides a broad range of animal healthcare and nutrition products and programs to meet the requirements of both large commercial and smaller individual farmers in the Philippines as well as abroad. Based in metropolitan Manila, it is a leading producer of pig and poultry feed and has a distribution network that serves more than 3,000 outlets, supported by more than 100 field personnel.

The Philippines is an important market for livestock feeds, with total feed usage of ~13 million metric tons (MMT), principally supporting the production of ~2.1 MMT of pork and ~1.7 MMT of broiler poultry. Compared to Canada, the Philippines produces an approximately equal amount of pork and 1.5 times the amount of broiler poultry.
