Dozens of jobs were created in Launceston today as the long-awaited new B&M store was officially opened.

The latest addition to B&M's portfolio in the region comes as a huge boost to the local economy, creating 45 jobs for people from the area.

Visitors to the store, located on Launceston Retail Park, will be able to browse a wide range of branded and own label goods, including toys, groceries, health & beauty and pet ranges.

As part of the opening day celebrations, B&M employees invited local charity, South West Lakes Trust, to be their VIP for the day, while local Mayor Cllr Margaret Young, was also in attendance.

The charity sets out to protect and enhance the important habitats, species and historic sites in the South West's reservoirs and lakes.

They also offer a wide range of facilities, including accessible footpaths, fishing platforms and wheelyboats to ensure that people of all abilities can enjoy a fun day out at their activity centres.

South West Lakes Trust received £250 worth of B&M vouchers as a thank you for taking part and for all of their hard work in the local community.

The store manager, Stuart Handley, said: 'We're feeling really positive about the creation of new jobs for local people and feedback from customers has been great so far.

'A big thank you to South West Lakes Trust who helped us open the store on opening morning, we hope that our donation can help them continue the outstanding work they do for the local community.'
