Customers in Prestwick were smiling this morning as a brand new B&M store opened in the town.

The addition to B&M's portfolio in the region comes as a huge boost to the local economy, creating 35 jobs for people from the area.

Visitors to the store on Main Street will be able to browse a wide range of branded and own label goods, including toys, groceries, health & beauty and pet ranges.

As part of the opening celebrations, Provost, Councillor Helen Moonie was invited to cut the ribbon to officially open the store, and was joined by local charity the Ayrshire Hospice as their VIP guests for the day.

The charity helps adults throughout Ayrshire and Arran who are suffering with life-limiting illnesses, providing comfort and support to patients as well as family members.

Lyn Bateman received a donation of £250 worth of vouchers on behalf of the charity, as a thank you for its hard work in the community.

A spokesperson from B&M said: 'We're feeling really positive about the creation of even more jobs for local people and we hope customers are going to be delighted with their new store.'
