Balfour Beatty has promoted Ed Prendergast, Jr. to vice president and business unit leader for its buildings operations in central Texas. Having previously served as vice president of business acquisition for Texas operations, Prendergast’s promotion is aligned with Balfour Beatty’s commitment to meeting the expanding needs of its clients in the high-growth central Texas market.

A 38-year Texas construction industry veteran, Prendergast’s experience includes preconstruction, construction operations and business acquisition. Over the course of his career with Balfour Beatty, he has helped deliver some of the company’s most iconic Texas commercial projects, including Children’s Medical Center Dallas, Harris Methodist Hospital, One Arts Plaza, and the Gaylord Texan.

Active within the industry, Prendergast is a leader in the ACE Mentor Program and an active member of Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC), Associated General Contractors of America (AGC), the Associated Subcontractors Association, and the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). He is also a longtime supporter of the American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE) and the American Heart Association.

Prendergast earned a bachelor of science degree in building construction technology from the University of Southern Mississippi.
