Basler Germany: Change to management team

Jan De Meulder (1955, Belgium) joined the Baloise Group in 2004 as CEO of the Belgian subsidiary Mercator Verzekeringen in Antwerp, where he successfully implemented strategic changes. He has been a member of the Corporate Executive Committee since 1 January 2009 and led the Corporate Division International from 2009 until the end of 2012. He has been CEO of Basler Versicherungen in Germany since 1 January 2013 and is successfully implementing the reorientation of the business. He will be retiring on 30 April 2015.

Jürg Schiltknecht (1971, Switzerland), acting Deputy CEO and CFO of Basler Versicherungen in Germany, joined the Baloise Group in 2009 as Deputy Head of Corporate Development before taking over regional management for Germany, Austria and Eastern Europe in April 2012. The focus of his work was in the area of corporate acquisitions and restructuring. Jürg Schiltknecht has headed Finance and Investments as a member of the Executive Committee since 1 January 2013. He has also been the acting Deputy CEO since 1 September 2014.

Kay Bölke (1957, Germany) is currently Head of Legal, Tax and Compliance and supports Jürg Schiltknecht in the latter's role as CFO. He will be appointed to the Executive Committee from 1 May 2015, with responsibility for Finance and Investments.

Christoph Wetzel, member of the Executive Committee of Basler Versicherungen and Head of Operations & HR, is leaving Basler Versicherungen at his own request in order to take on new challenges as a member of the Board of Management of Talanx Deutschland AG by the end of April 2015 at the latest. An announcement regarding his successor will be made in due course.

A transitional period planned with a view to the long term will ensure a high degree of continuity with regard to the further implementation of Basler Germany's strategy of focusing and optimising the business.

The appointments were made by the Supervisory Board of Basler Germany and the Board of Directors of Bâloise Holding Ltd. They are yet to be approved by the German supervisory authority.
