The innovative service enables Leumi customers to deposit checks in their bank account through their smartphone, without the need to attend a bank branch

Bank Leumi's 'Mobile Check Deposit' service, recently launched by Leumi, has won the "Product of the Year 2014" award in the 'Innovation in Banking' category. The prestigious award was granted to Leumi at a festive ceremony held in the Tel Aviv Museum last night.

The innovative service, which was the first to be launched in Israel by Leumi, enables customers to deposit checks in their bank account through their smartphone, without the need to physically deposit the check at a bank branch. The service is available on the 'Leumi app.' on smartphones (iPhone or Android). The deposit is carried out through an encrypted photo of the check, which is taken by the mobile phone. At this stage, only Leumi checks can be deposited through this service, in amounts up to NIS 10,000.

The "Product of the Year" ceremony is held in 30 countries worldwide, and is organized in Israel by the publisher of "Marketing Forum" Magazine, which is also in charge of the Israeli "Superbrands" annual competition. The award is granted to high quality and innovative products and services, based on research conducted by the "TNS Teleseker" Institute. The research included a sample of 2,000 Israeli consumers, who were requested to rank a wide range of products in various categories according to the level of their attraction, innovation and satisfaction.
