Bank Mandiri and Jasa Marga Provide E-money Refill Service at Toll Gates
02/10/15

Jakarta, 10 February 2015 - Bank Mandiri and Jasa Marga have introduced a new refill facility for e-Toll Cards and other Mandiri e-money cards at toll gates so as to boost customer service. During the initial stage, the service can be accessed at 11 gates in 9 toll plazas -- Semanggi, Cengkareng, Karang Tengah, Cililitan, Cibubur, Pondok Gede Timur, Bekasi Barat, Meruya Utama and Pondok Ranji.

The new service was officially inaugurated by Bank Mandiri Senior Executive Vice President Transaction Banking, Rico Usthavia Frans, and Jasa Marga Operations Director, Hasanuddin, at the JMDC Building, Jasa Marga Head Office, on Tuesday (Feb 10). The service has been available on a pilot basis at the Meruya Utama toll plaza since 14 October and has received a positive response from the public, as indicated by an average of 200 refill transactions per day worth a daily average of Rp 15 million.

With the new service, toll road users only need to hand over their e-Toll Card or other Mandiri e-money card to the toll gate attendant to be refilled. Refills are available in denominations of Rp 50 thousand up to Rp 300 thousand.

"We hope that the availability of this facility will boost the use of e-Toll Cards and other Mandiri e-money cards to 20% of total transactions on toll roads operated by Jasa Marga, from the current level of 14%," said Rico Usthavia Frans.

The service, Rico continued, is the latest innovation from Bank Mandiri to support the increased use of electronic money for payment transactions. Moreover, the refill service will answer the difficulties faced by users of e-Toll Cards or other Mandiri e-money cards whose balances are low.

Rico said that currently nearly 70% of total Mandiri e-money transactions are conducted on toll roads. During 2014, some 143 million mandiri e-money transactions worth Rp 1.6 trillion were conducted, while the number of mandiri e-money cards in circulation rose to more than 5 million, giving Mandiri a market share of more than 65%.
Jasa Marga Operations Director, Hasanuddin, said that the new e-Toll Card refill service would boost the use of such cards by the public, thereby helping reduce turnaround times at toll gates.

"We will always continue to innovate so as to improve the convenience of the public when using toll roads," said Hasanuddin.
