Lower emissions, improved fuel economy, higher comfort and safety are the benefits of replacing conventional cars in Bank Millennium's fleet with hybrid-powered Toyotas. The new fleet of hybrid Auris and Yaris cars will cut back CO2 emissions more than 500 tons compared with the pre-hybrid situation.

The car fleet of Bank Millennium Group now features four Toyota models: Yaris, Auris, Corolla and Avensis. Since December 2016 all petrol and diesel-powered Yaris and Auris in the fleet were being gradually replaced with hybrid vehicles. 380 cars have been replaced so far i.e. 70% of the entire fleet.

'We are the first bank to have replaced almost all company cars with more environmentally friendly ones. This means a strong reduction of exhaust gas emission to the environment. The fleet will be emitting more than 500 tons CO2 less (20.6% emissions reduction) per year than in the period before the replacement' - Ivo Novo, Director of the Administration Department in Bank Millennium commented.

'Toyota is a hybrid technology pioneer and the No. 1 manufacturer of hybrid-powered cars. Seven high-spec hybrid models available in Poland allow every company to easily choose hybrid cars to meet their needs. Toyota Auris Hybrid is a universal compact car, which provides full comfort with very low running costs. Toyota Yaris Hybrid is the cheapest hybrid powertrain car on the market and is highly popular thanks to high quality and lowest fuel consumption among non-plug-in cars. We are very happy that Bank Millennium has chosen Toyota's efficient and green hybrid technology' - Mirosław Sochacki, Corporate Sales Manager Toyota Motor Poland said.

Toyota's hybrid powertrain comprises components which work together via a planetary gearset and the PCU computer: petrol engine, two electric motors, which also double-up as generator and hybrid battery. The key here is optimised power flows between them. The electric motors power the car and recover power during regenerative braking, while when travelling at a fixed speed they deposit surplus power into the hybrid battery, to reuse it e.g. when moving slowly in a traffic jam. In this way the hybrid battery does not have to be charged at all and fuel consumption is limited to a minimum. Additionally not only does the hybrid powertrain use little petrol, but it is also highly reliable and has low running costs. This is helped by its simple design, void of many failure-prone components such as clutch, starter motor, alternator, turbocharger or DPF filter. Moreover a hybrid powertrain increases ride safety and comfort due to silent motor, smooth running thanks to using an e-CVT auto gearbox and with every Toyota model coming with the Toyota Safety Sense active safety systems suite as standard spec.
