Surakarta, 26 May 2017 --- PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI and Surakarta City Government, Central Java, signed Memorandum of Understanding on Banking Service Provision and Use as well as cooperation on tax payment particularly Land & Building Tax through e-Channel (e-PBB). This e-PBB service is one form of BNI supports to Surakarta City Government program to make this city as a Smart City.

​The signing of cooperation was done by Mayor of Surakarta, FX Hadi Rudyatmo and CEO of BNI of Yogyakarta Area Office, Arif Suwasono at Loji Gandrung on Friday, 26 May 2017. That event was attended by the President Director of BNI, Achmad Baiquni, the Head Representative Office of Bank Indonesia of Surakarta, Bandoe Widiarto, the Head Office of Financial Service Authority of Surakarta, Laksono Dwionggo.

PBB payment transaction demo through various channels of BNI was symbolically conducted in this event.

The collaboration of Surakarta City Government and BNI closer to the plan of Surakarta City to become one of the Smart Cities in Indonesia, is smart city concept which is designed to help various matters of community activities, particularly in the effort to manage the available resources efficiently and to provide facility in accessing information for community. This kind of cooperation can be a city development pilot model in Indonesia supported by BNI based on digital system.

'As the form of service development and effort to strengthen BNI position as banking partner for Surakarta City Government in realizing Smart City, BNI presents Banking Service in e-PBB Payment. Payment can be performed easier through teller, Automated Teller Machine (ATM), mobile banking system, internet banking, and other facility we provide. Therefore, Solo residents in general and among taxpayers in particular can make payment anytime and anywhere easier, comfort, and fast,' said Achmad Baiquni.

Through e-Channel, BNI also participates in cashless society program and financial literacy initiated both by Bank Indonesia (BI) and Financial Service Authority (OJK). In the future, BNI will also develop other regional tax payment service, retribution and product service as well as other banking service through e-Channel.

By the signing of this e-PBB payment it is expected to be able to develop Giro transactional account management and additional income payroll for various sectors available in the scope of Surakarta City Government, e-Absensi as well as to facilitate e-Commerce development so that conventional markets will be more widely open to support Surakarta City Government in 2017 which is targeting PBB revenue of approximately Rp 63 billion.

'In the future e-Pajak will be used for payment of 9 taxes in addition to PBB launched today' said FX Rudi.

Surakarta is a dynamic city with relatively high economic growth, namely 5.5% in 2016. Various economic potentials may provide opportunity for Surakarta people to be more creative in developing the existing potentials, to improve community welfare and economy of local area which will impact regional area improvement through various types of payment of regional tax and retribution.

​BNI is committed to be banking partner for Surakarta City Government to support smart city concept. Therefore cooperation of BNI and Surakarta City Government can also be a reference and strategic step to make BNI as 'One Stop Banking Solution' for regional government throughout Indonesia. ​The concept of Surakarta as smart city will not leave the character as a cultural city, so BNI is also committed to preserve cultural heritage among other thing to civilize regional specialties.

In that occasion, BNI was symbolically handed over CSR aid in the form open space improvement that has been an integrated culinary tourism offering Solo culinary specialties called Galabo or Gladag Langen Bogan as Solo culinary specialties center.
