Fourth Year of the Campaign Leverages Moments of Gratitude to Reinforce Long-term Commitments to Troops

"With more than 1 million service members coming home over the next few years, it's important for us to support their career, education and personal goals"

Bank of America today announced the start of its fourth consecutive "Express Your Thanks" campaign, which works to help service members, veterans and their families successfully transition to civilian life. The campaign builds upon the $2.4 million raised since the first Express Your Thanks campaign in 2012.

Express Your Thanks encourages individuals to express and share their gratitude for current and former members of the military. For every qualified expression of thanks submitted through December 31, 2015, the Bank of America Charitable Foundation will donate $1 to Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP), up to $1 million.

There are several ways individuals can participate:

  • Tag messages, photos or videos of thanks on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram with #troopthanks.
  • Visit the "Express Your Thanks" website at www.bankofamerica.com/troopthanks to post photos, videos and messages of their gratitude.
  • In select markets, the public can offer expressions of thanks at select NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races and NFL games.

Bank of America has partnered with WWP for eight years on employment, education and wellness programs that support the long-term success of veterans and their families.

"The programs funded by 'Express Your Thanks' address a serious need for support that goes beyond wounded service members' first few months at home," said Steve Nardizzi, CEO of Wounded Warrior Project. "Translating military experiences into civilian skills and navigating different financial needs can be real challenges, which is why making robust programs available is so important. Injured veterans, their caregivers and families have sacrificed a great deal for our nation, and it's our turn to welcome them home for the long term."

Bank of America is focused on helping military service members and veterans transition to civilian life.

  • Over the last five years, the bank has hired more than 7,000 veterans. The company has an industry-leading career website (militarytransition.bankofamerica.com) which provides service members, veterans and spouses information that can help them build their workplace and business knowledge, including building a resume and interviewing tips.
  • Since 2009, the bank has provided more than $14 million in financial support to military nonprofits, including $3.28 million in 2014 alone.
  • The company also serves more than 2 million active duty and veteran households, and recently introduced a comprehensive Military Benefits Package to better explain the full range of Servicemembers Civil Relief Act benefits available to them, as well as an improved, streamlined process.
  • Since 2012, Bank of America has donated more than 1,900 properties to military and veteran support organizations.

"With more than 1 million service members coming home over the next few years, it's important for us to support their career, education and personal goals," said Jeff Cathey, senior military affairs executive at Bank of America. "These efforts, combined with Express Your Thanks, are some of the many ways we're building on our 95-year commitment to serving our nation's military and veterans in a visible and tangible way."
