Bank of America Merrill Lynch, a leader in card services for middle-market, large corporate and public sector clients, today announced that Melissa Gargagliano has been appointed head of Commercial Cards, Global Transaction Services (GTS) EMEA. In this role, she has end-to-end responsibility for product management, new business growth, sales support and account management for the region's Commercial Cards platform. Based in London, Gargagliano reports to Ad van der Poel, EMEA head of GTS Product Management - Corporates, with accountability to Kevin Phalen, head of Global Commercial Cards and Comprehensive Payables, who is based in Chicago.

Gargagliano has relocated to London from the company's U.S.-based Global Commercial Cards team, where, for the past three years, she worked as a global Business Risk and Innovations executive and prior to this, a global product head. She began her career at Bank of America Merrill Lynch in 2005 as a Quality and Productivity executive for Global Learning and MBNA, the company's consumer cards division based in Chester, England, where she partnered with the businesses to improve key processes and manage risk.

Van der Poel said, "Our Commercial Cards business is integral to the GTS offering and is available to clients in more than 100 countries and 28 currencies. Over the past four years, we have increased our EMEA footprint from 10 to 26 countries. This expansion covers the whole of our corporate card product suite, ensuring a consistent experience for our clients when growing their card programmes with us."
