Lately, Bank of China Rio de Janeiro Branch formally started trial operation.

Zhang Dongxiang, President of Bank of China (Brazil) Limited expressed that Rio is the second biggest city of Brazil, a world-renowned tourist destination, and the most dynamic region in the country, with a GDP accounting for 12% of the Brazil's total. Upon its establishment, the branch will actively support and serve Chinese enterprises "going global", and provide premium and efficient financial services to Chinese enterprises, customers engaged in bilateral trade between the two countries, local and overseas Chinese in Rio.

At the launching ceremony, Song Yang, Consul General of the Chinese Consulate General in Rio de Janeiro said that Bank of China is the pacesetter for Chinese enterprises "going global", and the establishment of Rio Branch would definitely make new contributions to the bilateral trade and economic ties between the two countries.

BOC Rio Branch is located on Avenida Presidente Vargas in the center of the city, and its business scope includes: deposits, loans, currency exchange, remittance, and trade settlement, among others.

BOC set up its representative office in Brazil in 1998, and formally established Bank of China (Brazil) Limited in Sao Paulo in 2009. It is the first Chinese financial institution in South America, and provides all-round services including corporate lending, trade finance, international settlement, and personal banking to Chinese enterprises with investments in Brazil and Brazilian enterprises having trade ties with China.
