Bank of Maharashtra convenes 124th SLBC Meeting


Bank of Maharashtra, Convener Bank for SLBC- Maharashtra organized 124 th State Level Bankers' Committee (SLBC) meeting on 26.09.2014 at Mumbai.
Shri R.K. Gupta, Executive Director, welcomed the participants and gave an overview of various meetings held during the past quarter and overall developments. He also informed about the total Annual Credit Plan for Rs. 1,57,000 crores which was one of the largest State Credit Plan. He wished all the participants on the occasion of Navratri and forthcoming festive season.
The meeting was chaired by Shri S. Muhnot, Chairman and Managing Director, Bank of Maharashtra and was attended by Dr. S.K. Goyal, Additional Chief Secretary, Agri & marketing, Government of Maharashtra, Shri K.P. Bakshi, Additional Chief Secretary, Planning, Government of Maharashtra, Shri S. Ramaswamy, Regional Director, Maharashtra & Goa, Reserve Bank of India, Smt. J. Jiwani Regional
Director, Reserve Bank of India, Nagpur, Dr. U. S. Saha, CGM, NABARD, Shri R. Athmaram, Executive Director, Bank of Maharashtra, Shri R. K. Gupta, Executive Director, Bank of Maharashtra and s enior officials of Reserve Bank of India, NABARD, State Government, member banks and Chairmen of Regional Rural Banks, besides Convenor Shri S. Bharatkumar, General Manager, Bank of Maharashtra.
Chairman, SLBC complimented the Banks for 41% achievement, in the first quarter, of Annual Credit Plan for 2014-15 as well as for 71% achievement of disbursement of Crop Loans as of 31.08.2014 and appealed the member banks to achieve crop loan disbursement to 100% of the kharif target by
30.09.2014. He also congratulated the bankers for their outstanding performance under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana for opening 14.40 lakh accounts. He appealed the State Government to cooperate by mobilizing their district level machinery for help of the bankers in completing the mammoth task well in time. He opined that the programme will succeed with sustainability of BC model and urged bankers to focus on the same.
A brief review of the position in the State was taken. Chairman SLBC assured full support of the bankers to Government decision for benefit of farmer community in the state.
The following issues were discussed in the meeting apart from reviewing the performance of various banks under different schemes.
a) Loans to farmers: All the banks were asked to increase the pace of disbursement to agriculture sector, particularly to investment credit in the current financial year.
b) All banks to conduct the survey of Household where there was no bank account from the family, subject to model code of conduct.
c) All the banks were advised to concentrate on issuance of RuPay cards to account holders and seeding of Aadhar numbers.
d) All the banks to improve the credit level in Scheduled i.e. tribal Areas.
e) All the banks were also advised to increase their flow to Minority communities, SHG linkage, weaker sectors and in Government sponsored schemes.
Shri K.P. Bakshi, Addl. Chief Secretary Planning in his concluding remarks appreciated the efforts of bankers in Maharashtra in crop loan disbursement.
Shri S. Bharatkumar, General Manager, Resource Planning and Convener, SLBC - Maharashtra conducted the proceedings of the meeting and proposed vote of thanks.
