Bank of Maharashtra convenes 126th SLBC Meeting


Bank of Maharashtra, Convener Bank for SLBC- Maharashtra organized 126th State Level Bankers' Committee (SLBC) meeting on 26.02.2015 at Mumbai.
Shri R.K. Gupta, Executive Director, Bank of Maharashtra presided over the meeting.
Shri Anandrao Patil, Director, Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance, New Delhi and nodal officer for SLBC Maharashtra was also present and guided the participants.
The meeting was also attended by Shri Ramaswamy, Regional Director, Maharashtra and Goa, Reserve Bank of India, Ms. J.M. Jivani, Regional Director, Reserve Bank of India, Nagpur, Shri U. S. Saha, CGM, NABARD, Shri S.K. Sharma, Principal Secretary, Cooperation, Government of Maharashtra, Smt. Jayashree Mukherjee, Principal Secretary, Minorities Development, Government of Maharashtra, Shri Chandrakant Dalvi, Commissioner, Cooperation, Government of Maharashtra, Ms. Leena Bansod, COO, Umed, Maharashtra State Rural Livelihood Mission. Senior Officials of Reserve Bank of India, NABARD, State Government, Commercial Banks, MS State Coop. Bank and
Regional Rural Banks were also present.

Shri R.K. Gupta, Executive Director, Bank of Maharashtra, congratulated the bankers for their performance under ACP as well as crop loan disbursements and performance under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana. Target under ACP has been provisionally achieved to the extent of 75% as of
31.12.2014. He also appealed to member banks to achieve and exceed all the targets by 31-03-2015. He stressed the need for Financial Literacy in the state and assured full cooperation from banking fraternity for development of the state.
Shri Anandrao Patil Director DFS, appreciated the efforts of the banks in implementation of Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana where the banks in the state opened more than 90 lakhs account under the scheme. He also reviewed the performance of banks in various parameters.
The following issues were discussed in the meeting apart from reviewing the performance of various banks under different schemes.
a) Shri SK Sharma Prin. Secretary Cooperation stressed the need to increase the pace of disbursement to Agriculture Sector, particularly to investment credit.
b) Under Prime Minister Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), all the banks in the State should ensure delivery of passbook and RuPay cards.
c) Ms. J. Mukharjee, Prin. Secretary Minority development, informed the house about the low performance under lending to Minority Community and advised to form a sub-committee for studying the reasons and for suggesting the measures for improvement.
d) All the banks were requested to improve the lending under MSRLM, weaker sector, MSME, Minority Community and Government Sponsored Schemes.
Shri P.N. Deshpande General Manager, Resource Planning & Convener, SLBC, Maharashtra welcomed the participants. Shri L. M. Deshmukh, Deputy General Manager and Member Secretary, SLBC - Maharashtra piloted the agenda-wise discussions and proposed vote of thanks.
